Outdoor Education October, 4-6 2017 Sandy Hill Retreats in North East, MD

What is Outdoor Education? An educational experience in an outdoor setting Focus on team building, making connections, expanding comfort-zones, and respect of the environment Approximately 260 sixth graders, 16 parents, and 10 staff members will attend from Mount View Middle.

ODE PACKET Permission Forms Packing list Medications

Medication Authorization Form Must be completed for each over-the- counter/nonprescription medication and MUST be signed by a physician Medications and the authorization form must be brought to the MVMS health room by 9/20/2017 (Students may NOT carry meds to Sandy Hill Retreat themselves**) Medications must be in labeled containers Parent Volunteers carry their child’s medication no forms. ** Self –carry meds excluded, though an extra medication should also be supplied

Medication PICK UP!!! Medication will need to be picked up at the flag pole when the students return from the trip. Medications will only be stored at Mount View for one week. Any ODE Medications not picked up by October 19th will be discarded.

Departure and Return Wednesday, October 4, 2017 Students will arrive at MVMS no earlier than 8:30am and board buses directly. Check in is on the bus. Please plan to drop your student off students are not permitted to bring luggage on the school bus. Departure at about 8:30 am Parents attending full may park at the Marriotts Ridge baseball parking lot. Friday, October 6, 2017 Return to MVMS at about 12:00pm Students should be picked up by parents at that time Medications must be picked up at the flag pole on return.

What If My Child Does Not Attend Outdoor Education at Sandy Hill? Students will attend a regular school day at Mount View. Send a Note to Science Teacher Environmental Education Lessons will be taught through our Camp Mount View program. Information will be sent home to the students who choose this option.
