HIGHER EDUCATION IN SWEDEN The Swedish state is responsible for running the colleges and universities. Högskoleverket, The National Agency for Higher Education, oversees government decisions. Swedish students attending a college or university may apply for student aid (studiemedel) from CSN, the Swedish agency in charge of financial aid for studies and home equipment loans. Student aid includes grants and loans of approximately 800 euro/month for a maximum of six years. 412 000 students had student aid in 2007. Malmö University’s highest decision-making body is the board. The University’s managing director and highest authority is the Vice Chancellor, Lennart Olausson.
