FUTURE STN STRUCTURE (PROJECT TRENCHARD)

RAF is now an Expeditionary Air Force EXPEDITIONARY AIR OPERATIONS RAF is now an Expeditionary Air Force RAF stn structures must be reorganised to enable: * Delivery of Operational Outputs * Support Expeditionary capability Future Main Operating Base (MOB) structure in UK should mirror our overseas Deployed Operating Bases (DOBs) Introduction of an ‘agile Air Force’ 2-Pillar stn model

ILOC = INTEGRATED LOGISTICS OPERATIONS CENTRE RAF ‘2-PILLAR’ STN STRUCTURE (TRENCHARD MODEL) Stn Cdr ILOC Base Sp A1, A8, A9 Depth Sp A4 Depth DLO OC Ops Wg A2, A3, A5, A6, A7 OC Fwd Sp Wg A4 Force Elements (FE) Rear Depth Fwd ILOC = INTEGRATED LOGISTICS OPERATIONS CENTRE

A1 to A9 WHAT DOES IT MEAN? A1 - Personnel & Administration A2 - Intelligence A3 - Operations A4 - Logistics A5 - Plans/Contingency A6 - Communications & Information Systems (CIS) A7 - Doctrine & Training A8 - Resources & Finances A9 - Secretariat The ARMY and the RN also have functions 1-9 ARMY = G 1-9 (Ground) : RN = M 1-9 (Maritime)

2-PILLAR STN STRUCTURE (TRENCHARD MODEL) The planned timetable for change is as follows: FY 06/07 – Stand up of the ‘TRENCHARD’ initial Stn structure (OC Ops Wg, OC Fwd Spt Wg, OC Base Spt Wg) FY 08/09 – Migration to a 2-pillar structure complete, comprising OC Ops Wg and OC Fwd Spt Wg (Base support functions then integrated within Base Spt Sqn) FY 09/10 – Last migration to SO2 command of Base Spt takes place (OC Fwd Spt Wg de-regulated to SO1 GD Any)
