Early Warning Information Sharing Network The overall objective of IOM initiative is to contribute to the ongoing efforts of the Governments of Greece, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, as well as Albania, Kosovo*, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Hungary, in addressing the emergency situation through the establishment of an Information Sharing Network that ensures the provision of key information on the nature and scale of flows, while ensuring a strong focus on the specific needs of migrants.

Early Warning Information Sharing Network Challenges – lessons learned: Recruitment and appointment of field staff – different start date; contracting procedures; change of staff; Limitations on access to information (access to locations, delay in receiving data); Not all data details can be collected – due to field arrangements; Different time collection cycles (24 hours - 06.00-06.00; 08:00- 08:00; 00:00-00.00); Inconsistencies with data provided by other actors; Difficulty to unify joint external report with all details we collect; Ownership by National Institutions.
