A Successful Community Partnership “The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality”

A Successful Community Partnership March of Dimes Foundation defines a partnership as - “a body of individuals and organizations working together on a common goal or issue of importance to the community” “often formed to strengthen the impact of a community education, outreach or advocacy program”

Successful Community Partnership How did the March of Dimes become a success? Identified the problem – a devastating disease affecting children Set a goal – to end the disease Created a plan – raise “dimes” to fund research Partnered with famous friends to raise money Successful fundraising led to a cure for Polio Later, they set a new goal, created a new plan, and identified new partners to achieve the new goal

Who are the community partners that support the March of Dimes?

Committed Community Partners “As a major corporation and a major corporate player in New York City, it is important for us to participate, and to have our brand associated with a brand like March of Dimes” - Stephen Offutt, District Manager, K-Mart Stores Operations

Committed Community Partners “…there are people who respond to the fact that we are such good givers, so that they think that’s someplace where they would like to spend their money…” - Richard Ausick, Division President, Famous Footware

Committed Community Partners The March of Dimes uses its mission and successes to weave an emotional connection into lives of everyone it has touched since its inception in 1939. (The Corporate Partners use their sponsorship of the March of Dimes to sell their products – it is good for their businesses)
