CICO Checklist Follow checklist in order All documents that need to be completed are highlighted Student qualifies for Tier 2- Counselor attends PLC/grade level meeting with that student’s ODR data From this team decides his 3 target goals for daily sheet Advisor or Coordinator & student complete CICO Agreement together

  CICO Daily Sheet

Criteria for Success Criteria for success: Standard 80% or better daily Establish daily/weekly incentives -Praise for remembering to check in & out -Praise for returning signed Home Report (no punishment if not returned/not contingent upon points) -Must follow through on incentives decided & included on CICO Agreement

CICO Daily Process Quick check in with CICO Advisor/Coordinator upon arrival Greet & acknowledge student for checking in Check preparation for the day Materials & supplies Attitude Turn in Home Report from previous day Give new Daily Sheet Reminders for appropriate behavior/review expectations & goals

CICO Daily Process Each class Student brings CICO Daily Sheet to teacher Teacher acknowledges student for checking in Teacher rates & provides specific feedback about target goals Check out with CICO Advisor or Counselor at end of day Must check out with same person they checked in with Review Daily Sheet for points & goals & total Complete Home Report & send home with student Provide any incentives earned Enter Daily Sheet points everyday on Individual CICO Student Data Log

CICO Daily Process Parental Involvement Ideally, student gives Home Report to parent Parent acknowledges & encourages for next time Parent signs card Student returns signed Home Report the next day at check in Student not penalized if home report not signed/returned Provide verbal praise if home report is returned Parental Involvement Send home CICO Parent Permission Letter Get buy-in Explain Home Reports- sent home daily to sign & return Coach parents on how to review the point sheet with their child Keep it positive and encouraging

Daily & Weekly Data Summary Templates Daily Sheet data recorded on Individual CICO Student Data Log 15 spots for 15 days in each cycle Advisors turn into Counselors/Coordinators after each cycle Bring data to PLC/grade level meeting to update on progress If progressing to Cycle 2 of Tier 2 start collecting ABC Checklist data daily

Research Findings CICO is effective with about 70-75% of Tier 2 students Reductions in problem behavior Increased ratings of pro-social behaviors Increased academic engagement May be more effective with students whose problem behavior is primarily attention-seeking rather than escape motivated

Who can benefit from CICO? Behaviors Low risk behaviors Low level disruptions Disrespect Disorganized Work completion Impulsive Seeking attention inappropriately

Important to implement with FIDELITY Other Issues CICO Coordinator/Counselors Keep track of all students in school on CICO – organize their data Tier 2 & 3 School Data Record Criteria for nomination e.g., number of ODRs – school establishes criteria- NEED data based decision Staff training- Needs to happen once a year for all staff Important to implement with FIDELITY
