Pancake Day Reception Week Beginning 27/02/17 Communication & Language Literacy *We will be reading Mr Wolf’s Pancakes by Jan Fearnley. *We will be helping Mr Wolf to make his pancakes. *The children will be writing lists and instructions. *We shall also be retelling parts of the story using sentences. *ROLE PLAY- Mr Wolf’s kitchen/pancake related props. Personal, Social, Emotional Development *The children will be talking about their likes and dislikes when choosing toppings for their pancakes. Mathematics *We will be using the balance scales to compare the weight of two items. *We will be using this knowledge to solve problems for Mr Wolf when he is cooking his Pancakes. *We will be using language linked to position when we have Pancake races. Expressive Arts and Design *ROLE PLAY- Mr Wolf’s kitchen/pancake related props. Pancake Day Reception Week Beginning 27/02/17 Physical Development *We will be having pancake races. Fossils and Bones *Children will ask questions about dinosaurs and use books to find answers. Mad About Dinosaurs *Children will write their own poems. *ROLE PLAY- Dinosaur Dig and Museum. Mathematics *Pairs of numbers that equal 10. *Sharing/dividing- sharing pants equally *Subtracting- dinosaurs falling from Harry’s bucket. *Counting accurately in 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s. *Recognising and writing numbers to 20.
