the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia Planned Giving Program

Planned giving is an integral and vital part of the Diocese’s stewardship program. Planned giving provides not only deferred gifts but also current gifts for local congregations that go to support the annual budget and capital campaigns. It helps people impact more lives for Jesus.

Level One The Diocese Stewardship Committee members can deliver the message to local congregations about the importance of planned giving in their stewardship programs and make them aware of the planned giving materials available from the Diocese and the Episcopal Church Foundation. Specifically the points to be made are:   Planned giving provides current gifts for the annual budget and capital campaigns. It encourages people to include their church in their estate plans. It can build a church’s endowment. It enables people to make gifts they otherwise would not be able to make.

Talk about the specifics of different planned gifts. Level Two   The Diocese Stewardship Committee will provide a planned giving professional to make a presentation to a local churches to: Talk about the specifics of different planned gifts. What assets to use to make these gifts. How to structure planned gifts working with the donor’s professional advisors (attorney, CPA). How to create a legacy for the programs and ministries of their local churches not only through their estate but while they are living.
