Solar Eclipse 2017 What Arizona Will See Original PowerPoint Created by Queen Creek Unified School District edited by Higley Unified School District.
What is a solar eclipse? A solar eclipse happens when the Sun, Moon and Earth align perfectly so that the shadow of the Moon is cast on the Earth. This happens during the day and when the moon is in the new moon phase
What path will the solar eclipse take across the United States?
If the path doesn’t cross Arizona, why can we see it? In the direct path of the eclipse, you will be able to see the total eclipse. As you get further away from the direct path, you will be able to see less and less of the total eclipse. As you can see from this image, Arizona will see about 65% of the total eclipse.
There are between 2 and 4 solar eclipses every year, but unless you are in the right place on the Earth, you will not be able to view them. The next one for the US is in 2024.
While there are many ways to view the eclipse we are staying inside to provide the safest environment for our students and staff.
