Colleyville Heritage Diamonds Dance Guard Auditions 2017-2018 Martin Godoy- Director

Instructors Martin Godoy- Diamonds Dance Guard Director Martin Godoy serves as the color guard director at Colleyville Heritage High School. He previously served as the color guard director of the UT Arlington Band and co-director of the UT Arlington Dance Ensemble. Mr. Godoy was a member of The Bluecoats color guard in 2006-2007 and The Cavaliers color guard in 2008 whose program earned them 3rd place at world championships. He is a member of Black Gold Independent World Winter Guard and Danielle Georgiou Dance Group. He has also danced with Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet and Wichita Falls Ballet. In 2014, he was selected to participate at the Domaine Forget International Dance Academy in Canada. Outside of realms dance and color guard, Mr. Godoy holds a Bachelor of Music (Education) and Master of Music in Flute Performance from UT Arlington and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of North Texas. He has competed at the National Flute Association Young Artist competition and in the Ernest Bloch International Music Competition and subs for the Dallas Winds.  Karis Van- Dance Team Director Karis Van has been dancing for 24 years, with a focus on jazz, lyrical, hip hop, tap, ballet, and clogging. She has trained at dance studios in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and has taken from many prestigious choreographers in California and New York City. For ten years she performed in the nationally televised Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving halftime show with numerous artists. During her 4 years in high school, she was a member of the award winning Southlake Carroll Varsity Emerald Belles Drill Team where she was names Sophomore of the Year, Jr. Lieutenant her Junior year and was Captain in her senior year. For the past 8 years, she has worked for Marching Auxiliaries where she teaches and choreographs for dance teams across the United States.

What is Dance Guard Dance Guard is a hybrid performance group that trains in the dance and color guard mediums. The group performs with the CHHS Marching Band in the fall and performs indoors in the spring (winter guard). We are traditionally known as a color guard within our medium. Dance Flag Fundamental piece of equipment that all members begin with. Rifle Wooden object shaped like a rifle and taught after flag. Sabre A Spanish blade (dull) and is for the advanced member.
