Part 1: The Basics
1. Signing Up 1. To create an account click Sign up http://www.polleverywhere.com/
2. Making an Account 2. Enter your personal information Click “Sign up”
3. Creating your First Poll (Question) - Once you log in, you will be taken to this home screen. This screen will hold all of your polls and let you navigate between polls. 3. To create your first poll, click Create Poll
3a. Type your question 3b. Select type of poll 3c. Click Create Open ended: Audience can respond with anything. Multiple choice: Audience can select from the answers you input. Can also upload images for audience to select from. Add an answer=have more choices Clickable image: Audience can respond by clicking anywhere on the image you upload. 3c. Click Create
4. Adding an Open-Ended Question 4a. Click on Create Poll to create a second poll question.
4d. Click Create 4b. Type your question. 4c. Select type of poll Open ended: Audience can respond with anything. Multiple choice: Audience can select from the answers you input. 5. Starting the Poll 5. Click Start Poll Once the poll is started, your audience will be able to respond with their cell phone. This is how an audience member’s phone should look.
6. Setting up a personal PollEv.com webpage Notice there are other options via which your audience can respond. 6a. To set up your own personal PollEv.com webpage so that your audience can respond via a laptop or tablet, click on the PollEv.com/your_name (?) link.
6b. Type in whatever you want your personal PollEv 6b. Type in whatever you want your personal PollEv.com page to be called (e.g. jsmith1, johnsmith14, etc.)
6c. Once you find an available webpage, click reserve.
7. Returning to your Poll after Creating a Personal PollEv Webpage 7. Click on Polls to return to your poll
8. Pushing a poll to your personal webpage 8. Click on the “Push Poll Icon” (after clicking “Start Poll”) to allow your audience to respond via the personal web page you just created.
Now your audience can respond via their cell phone or their laptop or tablet.
9. Hiding Responses 9. In order to hide the responses until polling is complete. Hover your mouse in the upper right hand corner of the polling screen. Click Hide Results.
Now the results are hidden. You can see how many people have responded via the Total Results counter at the bottom right hand corner of the polling screen.
10. Stopping a Poll 10. When you are ready to end the poll. Click on Stop Poll and the Push Poll Icon.
Your poll has now been stopped. No more responses will be collected.
11. Revealing Responses to the Audience 11. To reveal the responses to the audience, hover your mouse in the upper right hand corner of the polling screen. Click Show Chart.
Your audience can now see the results.
12. Clearing Results If you would like to clear the results, click clear results.
The results have now been cleared.
Part 2: Special Features
13. Enabling Keywords 13a. Click on settings to see some special Poll Everywhere features
13b. Click on Labs
13c. Simple Keywords: This feature allows your audience to answer multiple choice questions with A, B, C, etc. rather than long numbered codes. Click enable to use this feature. ***If you choose to enable this feature, audience members will first need to join your poll before being able to respond. Please see step 26 for a sample of how an audience member’s phone will look to do this.***

13e. Click Polls to return to your main screen.
13.1. Starting the poll with Labs enabled 13.1a. Click on the name of the poll you’d like to start 14
13.1b. Click on the Start Poll and the Push Poll Icon to allow your audience to start responding. They will be able to respond via text message and via your personal PollEv webpage.
13.2. Having Audience Join Your Session To join your session the audience must text the keyword (e.g. SMITHJOHN) to 37607. **Because you enabled the Special Keyword feature (steps 13a-13e), your audience members must now join your session before they can begin answering poll questions.**
Once your audience members have joined the session, they will receive a confirmation that they joined the session and can begin texting their answers. They can also respond via your personal PollEv webpage.
Now that you’ve enabled “Keywords,” your audience can respond with letters to multiple choice questions instead of long numbers.
13.3. Seeing Number of Participants This tells you how many participants have joined your session.
14. Embedding PollEverywhere in a PowerPoint: MAC 14a. You must first Install the PollEv Presenter App. Click on Use in a Presentation, then click the Install the PollEv Presenter App on the right hand side of the polling screen.
14b. Once you have the app installed, the Poll Everywhere Ribbon will open
14c. From the Pick a poll, any poll 14c. From the Pick a poll, any poll! drop down menu, select the poll you would like to insert into PowerPoint.
14d. Once you select the poll, click the PowerPoint button. **You must have PowerPoint open and your mouse in the notes section of the slide you would like the poll to be inserted**
**Draw a solid, filled rectangle on your slide and the PollEv Presenter will automatically display your poll in that area when the slide show is playing** 14e. This text in the notes section, lets you know the poll has been imbedded.

You must hover your mouse along the right hand side of the polling screen to Start/Stop the poll and push the poll to your personal PollEv webpage. You can also hide/show the audience responses via your PowerPoint screen as well
15. Special Features: Embedding PollEverywhere in a PowerPoint: PC 15a. You must first Install the PollEv Presenter App. Click on Use in a Presentation, then click the Install the PollEv Presenter App on the right hand side of the polling screen.
15b. Once you have the app installed, open PowerPoint and click on the “Poll Everywhere” Tab.
15c. Click on the “Insert Slide” Button 15d. A box will pop up asking for your LogIn. Enter your Poll Everywhere email account and password created in step 2.
