Welcome to Second Grade Parent Night Mr. Reece’s Class

The Reece Family

Goals Every child to know that he/she is loved when they are in this classroom. To work together with each parent to be champions for each child.

Arrival Students will be picked up from the cafeteria at 7:30. The bell rings at 7:45. Anyone entering after 7:45 will be counted tardy for the day.

Dismissal Student dismissal begins at 2:30. Please be sure to let me know if your child is getting home in a different manner than normal. I can not take your child’s word on how he or she is getting home. I must hear from you either through a note or the office. Please do not call, text, or email me directly during the school day because I may not check these before dismissal. For the safety of our students, no one will be allowed to check out through the office between 2:15 and 2:30 per Mr. Limburg.

Binders Any money sent to school should be placed in a envelope or baggie and put in the pocket of the binder. Please make sure your child has his or her binder daily. Ex. Bradley Reece Lunch Money Mrs. Reece’s Class

Agenda Each child will be assigned an agenda which will be our communication tool for behavior and other important information. These need to stay in the take home-home binder. Please sign the agenda nightly and return to school the next day. Agendas will start going home with your child tomorrow.

Data Notebooks We will track certain goals that we have set within our classroom. Data Notebooks will be sent home with progress reports and report cards. Student work will be sent home weekly. Please help your child pick out a “Bragging” piece and a “Needs Work” piece to put in the data notebook. Please send these back to school in the agenda.

Scholastic Book Orders If you would like to order books for your child, please send the money in with the order form by the due date. Checks can be made payable to Scholastic Book Clubs. If you are ordering from more than one order form, it is not necessary to write separate checks.

Accelerated Reading AR began on Monday, August 17th. Almost all books checked out from the library are AR testable. Please read books at least two times to assure a better score.

Information Please make sure the school has up-to-date information regarding your child. If your address or phone number changes, please notify me and the office as soon as possible.

Weekly Letter The weekly letter will be sent home the first day of the week. There you will find important dates and reminders. Spelling and high-frequency words will be on the weekly letter and tested weekly.

Grades Bradley County Schools uses nine week grading periods. Students will receive Progress Reports half way through each grading period. Students will receive grades in Reading, Math, Spelling, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.

XtraMath Daily addition and subtraction practice and quizzes (facts through 20 right now). You can practice at home with your child using the information provided for you. www.xtramath.org

Birthdays We will be celebrating EVERY child’s birthday as a class at the end of the year with an “UNBIRTHDAY PARTY.” Until then, I ask that you please do NOT send any goodies to celebrate your child’s birthday during the school year. I understand that birthdays are special, but some children do not have birthdays during the school year, so this helps everyone get to celebrate with their friends/classmates.

Behavior Plan 0+ points: Great Job 1 point lost: Verbal Warning 2 points lost: Consequence (lose 1/2 recess) 3 points lost: Greater Consequence (lose all recess) 4 points lost: Phone call or letter to parents and/or referral to principal

Rules Feel free to do anything that doesn’t cause a problem for anyone else. If you cause a problem, I will ask you to solve it. If you can’t solve the problem, or choose not to, I will do SOMETHING. What I do, will depend on the special person, and the special situation. If you feel something is unfair whisper to me, “I’m not sure that’s fair,” and we will talk.
