How To Avoid Fundraising Scams. Alert Before It Is Too Late.

How it arises? The scams are the inevitable part of every business, we can't stop it permanently but we can avoid it. Cons always looks for the opportunity to destroy the organizers. One single mistake can put you in hole. Phishing - the scammer tricks you into handing over your personal information. Leaking confidential information.

Scams: Misuse of charity money : It is never pleasant to think that people working in your charity may be capable of fraud, but the reality is that more and more organisations are suffering from this. Misuse of charity money can come in numerous forms, from pocketing cash to misusing charity credit cards. Finance departments – and the staff running them – should be audited regularly  in order to avoid this. False expenses : Another common method of internal fraud is by claiming over-inflated, non-existent or inappropriate expenses or overtime. Ensure all expense claims are as described on the claim form, are accompanied by a receipt and are submitted within a reasonable time period.

Unauthorised fundraising : This is a scam that plays on the sympathy and goodwill of others by asking them to make a donation to a cause. In the majority of cases, the request will be linked to a high-profile event, such as a flood or earthquake. Fraudsters will ask for money in different ways. Credit card scams : Credit card scams is the most common thing in these day, 1 out of 3 persons is caught by this. Droping the credit card, sharing details with other person cause of this scam.

Tips To Avoid Scams:   Select the best fundraising website after studying the market deeply. Check out the crowdfunding websites review their popularity, CrowdsUnite and ability to sell event tickets online. Avoid giving money if solicited by phone or mass emails or letter- writing campaigns for which you cannot verify the organizer’s identity. Share confidential details to only loyal employees. Remember most of the time is the inner person who is responsible for scam. Be cautious in evaluating causes that generate a lot of publicity, because they often attract scams.

Never send money or give credit card, online account details or copies of personal documents to anyone you don’t know or trust and never by email. Put a lock on your mailbox and shred or destroy any documents containing personal information before disposing of them. Don't believe on event registration sites which says that they will collect unlimited funds for you.
