My Town František Běloubek

Osek monastery In the foothills of the Ore Mountains, near the Saxon border, was founded around the year 1206 the monastery Osek. At the time of his arrival in Osek Cistercians had already nearly a six-year period when he lived in a convent on the estate Maštov Milhošť, monks who were originally invited to the Czech Republic. The estate in Osek took an important noble family Hrabišic. Under the protection of new founder of the family began to prosper rapidly Osek monastery. One of his most famous became the 30th 13 years of the century. Then became the head abbot of the monastery Slavko, the grandson of the founder of the monastery Osek. Establishment of order Order of Cistercians was the first European order Benedictine religious reform rules, which in the 11th century carried out by Robert Moles and later his successor at St. Bernard monastery in Citeaux Burgundy, the first Cistercian monastery in the world.

Its management was entrusted to the hosier Róthig Johan Paul, called oseckým abbot of Saxony. History of a town In 1196 the abbey was founded under the patronage of the Cistercian convent Waldsassen Slavek and brought him to Osek. Construction of the monastery began in 1206, when the foundation was laid for the temple of the Virgin Mary. Construction progressed rapidly, and already in 1208 he was consecrated the main altar and the cemetery. The monastery acquired the ownership of many lands, pensions, and whole villages. The next boom town took care of Boreš Rýzmburk Hrabišic of birth. From 1240 to 1250 he built the castle, named Riesenburg. In 1248 he stood on the side of King Wenceslas I and defeated Ottokar II. He avenged a year later plundered the monastery.
