AP Spanish Language & Culture Sra. Pinson l 2016-2017 ¡Bienvenidos! AP Spanish Language & Culture Sra. Pinson l 2016-2017

Contacto l Contact ¿Quién soy? Who is Señora Pinson? pinsonj@rcschools.net Ext. 23350 ¿Quién soy? Who is Señora Pinson? My dad made me do it! Study Abroad, college Taught for Spanish Embassy, Ministry of Education (‘06-’07) Knoxville for 3 years (that husband!) Now: Central (6th year!), Masters, Kids, pup (3-¡loco!), BLESSED.

Objetivos l Objectives Understand and comprehend a variety of resources in multiple formats including conversations, lectures, oral presentations, newspapers, letters, instructions, internet articles and short stories or poetry. Take said resources and not only be able to comment or give opinions, but also synthesize information from what was seen, read or heard, and persuade a reader to your viewpoint. Express through both spoken and written mediums by convincing, arguing, inquiring, and describing. Express well in a variety of styles and strategies, including those for different audiences. (i.e. emails, letters, essays…) Expand knowledge and understanding of the practices, perspectives, and products of the Spanish language and culture and be able expound upon them when prompted. Acquire and enrich vocabulary so the student can manipulate, with confidence, a variety of reading and aural materials.

Formato l Format Class will be conducted solely in the target language based on AP regulations. I encourage all students throughout their Spanish studies to practice the target language consistently outside of class when they can, and I expect them to use the target language with myself and their peers during class. The construction of the class will be based around the four main areas of the AP Spanish Language exam, which include: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Detailed, university-level readings will happen weekly, if not more. Informal and formal essays will be assigned to ensure proper construction of writing formats. Speaking sessions will be recorded using the computer/iPad labs. Vocabulary lessons will be generated from the unit topic and applied through these readings, writings, and speakings.

Formato l Format Presentations will also be given by the student on a country of his/her choice. These presentations will be given in the language and will include visual aids, current information, and questions to interact with the class. Finally, a practice test will be given early in the semester to give the students an idea of the exam. A second and third will be scheduled for later in the year. Digital or computer translators of any kind are NOT allowed! Any detection of a translator will result in a failed grade on the homework or project.
