Our Experience Jenni Clark Kirstie Auerbach Administrative Assistant Donor Services The University of Arizona Foundation Coordinator Conference Services Texas Women’s University Assistant Director Donor Relations The University of North Texas Graduate Intern Special Events & Annual Fund Iowa State Foundation Assistant Director Donor Relations The University of North Texas Director of Development College of Business Intro to our experience & why we wanted to give presentation: Both How many are Dos and how many are DR?

Session Overview & Goals Our experiences, our definitions, and what led us to give this presentation! Two different types of stewardship: Think BIG & DIY (talk more on that later!) Missed opportunities on your team and across campus. Small group activities to reflect on your stewardship wish list, stewardship holes, and cross-programming opportunities. Recap & Takeaways Closing & Questions!

What We Mean By… Donor Relations: The comprehensive effort to ensure that philanthropic donors experience high-quality interactions, that foster long- term engagement and investment. Front Line Fundraising: The comprehensive effort to identify, engage, and encourage individuals to invest their time, talent, or treasure into an institution. Authentic Stewardship: The dynamic outcome when donor relations staff and front line fundraisers directly collaborate to create a unique, personal strategy that includes a spectrum of opportunities, to engage and retain a philanthropic donor. Kirstie

Small Groups Break Into Small Groups Start by discussing and filling out “Oy Vey! The Calendar is So Full Already!”. Fill out vertically, matching column colors. What do you see? What don’t you see? Is it balance or heavy one direction on responsibility, frequency, etc.? Finish by discussing and filling out “Cross-Programming and Signature Initiatives”. Focus on a single initiative. We will walk around to answer questions and provide input. Kirstie

Recap it for us! 1. What are some of your campus’s THINK BIG stewardship opportunities? 2. What about DIY? 3. What are the holes, or your wish list, in your stewardship program? 3. Are there missed opportunities on your campus to fill your holes or wish list? 4. Are donor relations and front line fundraisers working as partners? 5. How can shifting perspective, and/or responsibility improve stewardship for your donors, alumni, and friends? Jenni

Final Takeaways & Questions It’s Everyone’s Responsibility- Own Yours Do More With Less (the easy way) Start on Campus- Be Informed Cross Program & Build Relationships Know Students, Use Students, Engage Students Be Personal & Creative Quality Over Quantity Acknowledge the Growth & Be Positive Questions?
