ROTATION AND REVOLUTION – THE MOVEMENTS OF THE EARTH.

MOVEMENTS OF THE EARTH AND MOON. EARTH'S ORBIT MOON'S ORBIT EARTH SUN

THE SPINNING OF THE EARTH AXIS THE SPINNING OF THE EARTH ON ITS INCLINED AXIS IS KNOWN AS ROTATION.

ROTATION CAUSES DAY AND NIGHT.

THE REAL TRUTH Day and night is also caused by the rotation of the Earth on its axis. Have you noticed that the clouds, wind and weather patterns often seem to be travelling/ moving in sky. [that is because the Earth is spinning from West to East!]

So do you think this proves that the Earth is rotating? Do you agree? You know, when I was flying from Mumbai to Delhi the plane ride was very bumpy because there was a strong wind blowing. So do you think this proves that the Earth is rotating? May be ……but have you noticed that the stars in the night sky also move. So I think the Earth must be moving or rotating.

THE FACT The change in positions of all stars in the sky is due to the Earth’s rotation. The Sun, and all the stars seem to revolve around the Earth because the Earth itself is spinning beneath your feet! And planes travelling from East to West encounter increased wind resistance. [because the Earth is spinning from West to East]

THE REAL TRUTH The Earth’s rotation causes day and night. It is due to the ROTATION of the Earth that the STATIONARY Sun seems to be rising in the east and setting in the west. Moving like an arc in the sky!

If the Earth stopped rotating would the day and night cycle change? What do you think? If the Earth stopped rotating would the day and night cycle change? I think the cities would spend half the year in darkness and the other half in full Sunlight, like at the North and South Pole.

Think of the Earth as a spinning top, tipped over to one side.  Like a skater, rotate about a vertical axis. The Earth's axis is tilted at 23.5° from the vertical. The Earth rotates around once in 24 hours - that's a rate of 1000 miles per hour!. The time it takes for the Earth to rotate completely around once is what we call a day. It's Earth's rotation that gives us night and day.

ANOTHER PROOF OF EARTH’S ROTATION If you have a pendulum, it will simply swing back-and-forth in a straight line forever due to the rotation of the Earth, until something like air resistance slows it down to a full stop.

Pendulum experiment proving that the Earth is spinning on its axis.

THE MOVEMENT OF THE EARTH ON ITS ORBIT AROUND THE SUN IS KNOWN AS REVOLUTION.

REVOLUTION CAUSES SEASONS

On March 22nd and September 22nd the duration of days and nights are equal . These equal days are known as the Vernal Equinox in Marxh and the Autumnal Equinox in September.
