Synchronous Rotation of Moon

What kind of motion does the moon have in space? Rotates on its axis once in 27.3 Earth days Revolves around the Earth once in 27.3 Earth days Synchronized Rotation = length of time for 1 rotation is equal to length of time for 1 revolution. Must be synchronized for us to only see one side of the Moon from Earth.

How do we know the length of rotation and revolution is 27 How do we know the length of rotation and revolution is 27.3 Earth days?

Moon Phases Investigation You will use the boxes to record your observations from the Moon Phases Investigation. For each box, complete the following steps. Color the Sun yellow. Color the Earth blue. Recorded your observations during the investigation by shading the far right circle (the moon) with what you see from Earth when the E-M-S are in the positions shown. I will walk you through the first one. Color the half of the moon that is NOT receiving the sun’s light black.
