Activities Welsh language and /Curriculum Cymreig Topic: Weather Area: Health and Wellbeing Class: Orange Date: Spring 2017 Activities Activities- children will work on their physio programmes, take part in individual therapies , and go in standers each day see weekly plans. Tacpac, massage and sensory play forms part of weekly timetable. Week 1 Frost Jack frost by Kazuno Kohara, Jack Frost in the Garden Brenda Williams. Space blanket floorplay. Jack frost story massage. Walk around school to look at the frost. Week 2&3- Snow Kippers Snowy Day, Penguins –nonfiction, Snowman and Robin, Snow Carol Thompson, Big Bear Little Bear, Story massage ‘Snow’. Discuss keeping warm. Physical- rolling snowballs to each other. Fine motor skils hands and fingers in snow, mouldable foam paint and othe practical experiences. Week4&5-Rain Alfie’s Feet, Rain, The Rainy Day . Developing gross and fine moor skils when experiencing practical activities eg playing instruments, painting with paint brushes etc. Rain story massage. Incy Wincy story massage. Week 6 The Weather Monster, Elmers weather. Valentines Day –What Colour is Love. Discuss the feeling of the weather monster- happy, sad, angry, scared. Talk about friendship and what it means and how we all look after one another and can make one another happy. Week 7 Welsh Focus Week, Bore Da- rolling and kicking rugby and footballs. Week8&9 Wind One Stormy Night, Blown away, Wind, Rosie’s Hat The Windy Day- children to communicate response and feelings to experiencing the wind. Using gross motor skills when moving on the swing and experiencing the wind while moving backwards and forwards. Wind story massage. Week10&11 Sun, Sun Carol Thompson,- Sun story massage,. Fine motor skills when gluing and painting and mark-making in cards. Outside play to investigate shadows and use of large equipment. Week11&12 Easter fine motor skills feeling eggs and rolling. Spring story massage. Welsh language and /Curriculum Cymreig Use Dil a Del to reinforce Welsh language in the activities covered in the topic. Use of Ipads and Big Mac to communicate in Welsh. Any appropriate material on Ngfl site. Community visit to Library for Rhyme Time, sing simple rhymes. Visit to Poppy Café in St Mary’s Church. Castle Encourage puils to describe the weather each day-” Sut mae tywedd heddu?” Encourage pupils to express feelings in response to places – happus triste. ICT and Digital Competency Use Ipads to record experiences and remind pupils of prior learning. Use Big Mac to communicate ideas and feeling and also to recall good work and celebrate achievements Switch program reinforcing personal care Use Youtube and internet to find pictures and videos of changing seasons, growing, lifecycle of butterfly etc
