PANEVĖŽYS, THE CAPITAL OF AUKŠTAITIJA (1503) Panevėžys is the fifth largest city in Lithuania. The city is situated in the middle of Lithuania. It lies on the banks of the river Nevėžis. There are about 103,5 thousand inhabitants.

TOWN HEART – SENVAGĖ (RIVER WASH) Senvagė (the Old River Bed) is considered the symbol of Panevėžys and is a famous place for leisure time and festivals.

PUPPET WAGON THEATRE The theatre is unique in its nature-all its actors are puppets. The name of the theatre is promoted when in summer all actors gather their puppets and decorations and put them onto a big horse-drawn wagon and travel around many towns and villages in Lithuania. The director of the theatre Antanas Markuckis, the owner of the most prominent theatre awards, the B. Dauguvietis, H. K. Andersen prize, as well as other leading artists, holds 4-5 premieres every season.
