“We know that one of the most powerful ways of achieving improvement is through collaboration, with the best schools, settings and leaders supporting those that are more challenged. But it’s not just the school or centre receiving support that improves – providing support gives even the most accomplished teachers and leaders an opportunity to gain new ideas and improve their own practice. There are now many opportunities for leaders to give or receive support, and a growing body of evidence that this type of collaboration is making a significant and positive difference across the education system.” http://www.education.gov.uk/nationalcollege/index/support-for-schools.htm 2

The qualification is for leaders of children's centres delivering integrated services. It gives them the opportunity to collaborate across the community and provide seamless, high-quality services for babies, children and families. Modular Curriculum http://www.education.gov.uk/nationalcollege/docinfo?id=176135&filename=an-overview-of-the-new-modular-curriculum.pdf The modular curriculum is structured around five levels that reflect the different stages in a leader’s professional development and career: Leading a team within an organisation Leading beyond a team within an organisation Aspiring to lead an organisation Leading an organisation Leading beyond an organisation The first three levels of the modular curriculum will be available from autumn 2012. 4
