SUMMARY Use 2-3 slides Losing a child to death through alcoholism has emerged as one of the crushing and potentially destructive pains in mothers’ Indeed, death o a son is a death of a future & Shattering Man’s empire. More so when it is through alcoholism

SO WHAT/PROBLEMS? Use 2-3 slides The cry of generations of mothers losing sons to Alcoholism is getting louder day after day across the world and the number of mothers falling in this experience keeps swelling day by day. Theories of grief include John Bowlby’s Attachment theory that looks at grief as an universal response to separation & Family Systems Theory that looks at loss of family member as a disruption of the equilibrium

METHODS? Seven respondents were elected through non-probability sampling technique and data was collected through Focus Group Discussion. The study was qualitative as it was exploring human phenomenon. The data further triangulated for data validation.

RESULTS & DISCUSSIONS Use 2-3 slides National Campaign Against Drug Abuse (2010) shows that Kirinyaga District led by 78% deaths due to alcohol related sicknesses, 64.4% of deaths due to alcohol related motor accidents, 29.2% due to alcohol related drowning, and 41.0% committing suicide under the influence of alcohol. mothers bear the blunt of this experience .

CONCLUSION/FUTURE STEPS These mothers healing path can be emulated and their learnt lessons can be supportive to mothers entering the loss for the first time. That even though the loss of the sons may never get easier, it might be comforting to know that they are not alone on grieving their sons but may not feel so alone if they gather with other mothers who are equally mourning their lost children Based on the results, it is recommended setting-up of the Al-Annon group meetings for the mothers’ Psycho-social support, and replication of the study in future involving bigger samples and diverse groups,
