Presentation transcript:

Operant Conditioning Learn the basic principles and procedures of operant conditioning. Explain how the idea of consequences lies at the heart of reinforcement and punishment. Understand the four basic schedules of reinforcement, how they are measured, and how they explain much behavior in humans and other animals.

Operant Conditioning Details and Terms Slides 11-27 Read the sub-sections in the text. Write brief notes as you read, focus on the “text” and not the “blue terms” within the text for your notes. Following each “text” slide is a “term” slide. Type the definitions into the “term” slides.

Applying Skinner’s Principles Read how the United States’ military used operant conditioning to train dolphins to find underwater mines after the Iraqi war on page 221 of the text. On the next slides describe how you would train an animal to do something using operant conditioning. Follow the steps on pg 217. Be very specific and use the terminology you have learned.

Add a Title Overview of your operant conditioning experiment. What are you attempting to train your animal to do? How will your experiment proceed? You may write this part after you have worked out the details of your experiment.
