External Modules The next generation of plugins and hooks Democratization - External modules are “plugins and hooks for the rest of us” But what are they really?
External Modules What are they, technically? They can utilize hook functions They can have plugin-like pages All of the above
External Modules Who can install them? REDCap administrators only. Are IT staff required to install a module? No. Who can use them? Any REDCap user. How are they downloaded? An administrator will download it from the REDCap External Module Repository, then enable it in REDCap. Can any REDCap plugin/hook programmer get their module into the module repository? Yes. There will be a submission process to vet and test submitted modules.. The big win: Democratization of customizations and enhancements. It all started at REDCapCon 2016. You can make a difference!
