Toys and pets of ancient Rome-kyle

This game was known as Romean checkers This game was known as Romean checkers .Most kids rich or poor had games such as this or other types of board games.

Ancient Romeans had many types of pets too Ancient Romeans had many types of pets too. They included dogs, cats, pigeons, chickens, song birds, herons, ravens ,turtels, rabits, snakes, mokeys, parrots and many other pets.

Romean children had many toys like we do today such as toy solders, rattles, balls, dolls, doll houses, and pull along toys like the one shown on the screen.

Paintings show children of rome playing lots games Paintings show children of rome playing lots games.  Some writings talk about children at play.  The writings talked about riding hobbyhorses, building play houses and making little carts and hitching mice to them to pull them around. Roman children played with balls and kites and made hoops with pieces of metal on them so that when they rolled they chimed like bells.  Mostly boys played war type games.  They practiced with swords made of wood and played ‘’conquer Troy”.  Children would also make small figures to play with . most Girls played with dolls.  Poor children made rag dolls and the rich children had dolls of clay or wax sometimes they had joints to bend and pose the dolls. Dogs were the most favord pets of romans.  birds including pigeons ducks and geese, were also pets.  Late in the romean time , cats became common animal and might have been pets.
