Reformation 2017: It's Still All About Jesus On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed "95 Theses" to the door of Church in Wittenburg, Germany. These 95 Theses concerned the teaching of Bible and Church practices that were not in keeping with those teachings. With this action, Luther began the Protestant Reformation of the Church. This year we celebrate 500 years since the Reformation. And during the months of September, October and November, we're asking a simple question: Is the Reformation still significant?
Reformation 2017: It's Still All About Jesus Today we see that the Reformation's significance is not about a new teaching in the church. It's not about Martin Luther or any of the other Reformers. No, the Reformation is about the old, original, apostolic teaching of the ETERNAL GOSPEL (Rev. 14) of Jesus Christ. This is the only message that faithful Christian churches have ever proclaimed.
Reformation 2017: It's Still All About Jesus The Reformation is about the re-discovery of the ETERNAL GOSPEL at a time when many people, and many churches had forgotten it. And the significance for us is the reminder that we should never trust in any gospel apart from the ETERNAL GOSPEL of sins forgiven and life given to us, by Jesus and through His cross. It's still all about Jesus!

CONNECT TIME! (交流时段) P: For the next few minutes, find one or two people that you can talk with. This could be a friend or someone you are meeting for the first time. Introduce yourself and share an answer to one of the following questions with each other: What was the best part of your week? What was the hardest part of your week? Where did you see God at work this week?
# 327 A Mighty Fortress is our God 1 A mighty Fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing; Our helper He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe; His craft and pow’r are great, And armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal.
# 327 A Mighty Fortress is our God 2 Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing, Were not the right man on our side, The man of God’s own choosing. Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He; Lord Sabaoth His name. From age to age the same, And He must win the battle.
# 327 A Mighty Fortress is our God 3 And though this world, with devils filled, Should threaten to undo us, We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us. The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him; His rage we can endure, For lo, his doom is sure: One little word shall fell him.
# 327 A Mighty Fortress is our God 4 That word above all earthly pow’rs, No thanks to them, abideth; The Spirit and the gifts are ours Through Him who with us sideth. Let goods and kindred go, This mortal life also; The body they may kill, God’s truth abideth still; His kingdom is forever. Amen.
CONFESSION & FORGIVENESS P: In the name of the Father and the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19 C: Amen
CONFESSION & FORGIVENESS P: Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the work of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You and worthily magnify Your holy name, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. C: Amen.
CONFESSION & FORGIVENESS P: If we say we have not sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (silence for personal confession)
P Most merciful God, C we confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. But for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen
P: Almighty God, in His mercy, has given His Son to die for us and, for His sake, God forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ and by His authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the + Son, and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen!
PRAYER OF THE DAY(今日祷告) P: Let us pray: C: Almighty God, gracious Lord, pour out Your Holy Spirit upon Your faithful people. Keep them steadfast in Your Word, protect and comfort them in all temptations, defend them against all their enemies, and bestow on the Church Your saving Peace; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Musical Offering 诗班献诗 God, We Praise You!
God, we praise You! God, we bless You! God, we name You sovereign Lord! Mighty King whom angels worship, Father, by Your church adored; All creation shows Your glory, heaven and earth draw near Your throne singing “Holy, holy, holy, Lord of hosts, and God alone!”
True apostles, faithful prophets, Saints who set the world ablaze, Martyrs, once unknown, unheeded, join one growing song of praise, While Your church on earth confesses One majestic Trinity; Father, son, and Holy Spirit, God, our hope eternally.
Jesus Christ, the King of glory, Everlasting Son of God, Humble was Your virgin mother, Hard the lonely path You trod: By Your cross is sin defeated, Hell confronted face to face, Heaven opened to believers, Sinners justified by grace.
Christ, at God’s right hand victorious, You will judge the world You made; Lord, in mercy help You servants For whose freedom You have paid: Rise us up from dust to glory, Guard us from all sin today; King enthroned above all praises, Save Your people, God, we pray. Amen.

31To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." 33They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?"
34Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. A: This is the word of the Lord C: Thanks be to God
