Session Goal: ESGI Tabs, Tests and Recording Sheets Aligned to the CC Report Card

Disclaimer… I want to be very clear that the tests suggested in the following slides are my suggestions alone, and not sanctioned by the district . I spent time carefully reading the language of the Common Core Standards as well as the Report Card in order to find tests that would best suit the needs of a Kindergarten teacher in Santee. However, you will definitely want to explore the tests for yourself to make sure that they fit your needs. Of course, we should all be using multiple measures of assessment to determine student progress. ESGI is just one tool at your disposal.

A Few Notes about Setting Up Your Tabs Tests under the same tab can be included on a single report. Tests can appear on more than one tab, and the results will carry over. This allows you to create specialized tabs for progress reports with only the scores you wish share with parents at that time.

Creating New Tabs →Test Explorer →Manage Subjects →Add New Subject Link to Instructions from ESGI Support

Erica’s Suggested ESGI Tabs for Kindergarten Mathematics CCMCount&Card CCM Ops & Algebraic CCM NS & BT CCM Meas & Data CCM Geometry English Language Arts CC ELA F. Skills Other Useful Tabs T1 PR T2 PR T3 PR

Adding Tests to a Tab From the Test Explorer’s “Manage Subjects” Screen that you used to create your tabs, select “EDIT” to add tests to a subject tab. Follow the steps below to add tests to a tab. Note that you will not be able to view the actual tests from this screen. More on this later… Save your work! Use right and left arrows to move the selected test in/out of the Subject Tab Click on a test to select it

Erica’s Suggested Tests for ESGI Tab: CCM Geometry Report Card Descriptors: ESGI Tests suggested for this section: Click Here for a link to the Kindergarten Common Core Standards for Geometry. In this case, the report card is much more vague than the actual standards. The list of tests I have suggested reflect the language of the CC, rather than the report card. Recording Sheet

Browsing Available ESGI Tests 2. Select the Test Explorer Tab 1. From your Home Screen, select Test Explorer 3. Use the drop-downs to sort tests. Click preview to view a test. Note: You will not be able to add tests from this screen. To add tests, you will need to return to “Manage Subjects.”

Creating Your Own ESGI Tests- Part 1 Note: ESGI has many images pre-loaded that you can use when creating tests. If you want to use your own images, start by going to the Image Gallery tab and uploading them. This way, they will be available to use as you create your test questions From Test Explorer, Select Add New Test

Creating Your Own Tests- Part 2 Give your test a unique name and test ID. Then you can decide to share it so other Santee teachers can use it too. Once you select the content area, you can also choose a state standard from the drop-down list. Click here to create test questions. Then you can return to this screen to manage the order of the questions.

Creating Your Own ESGI Tests- Part 3 The Short Title is how the question will appear on reports. Add directions for the test administrator. Add images and text to the screen. You can change the font, size and color. ESGI has many images pre-loaded. Change image size here. To change the position of the image, you can click and move with the mouse.

Suggested ESGI Tests for TK The TK Report Card is rather simple compared to the Kindergarten Report Card. I opted to include all the tests used for my TK students on a singe tab, enabling me to print a single report for parents with all test results. TK teachers will find many suitable tests specific to the TK standards available from ESGI.

ESGI Support https://www.esgisoftware.com/support/ If you get stuck, try the ESGI website. The Support page has tutorials to walk you through the various ESGI functions. I am happy to answer any questions or help you trouble shoot ESGI issues. Feel free to email me at: erica.edmonston@santeesd.net
