One person will take the Loyalist point of view of the argument, the other, the Patriot point of view. The project poster must have your persuasive argument (Loyalist/Patriot) and be convincing. Research is to be done today in class using the gray/red textbooks. The poster will be due on Thursday (Oct. 6th). You may use the poster sized paper we will provide or buy your own.

Loyalists vs. Patriots Arguments Create a T-Chart on page 48 in your journal. Loyalists vs. Patriots Arguments Loyalists Patriots A strong unified British Empire is good for all Colonists & British subjects should obey British law Taxes should be paid to pay off the French & Indian War Colonies would be weak without Britain Colonies profit from trade with Britain Colonies are too far away from England to have representation (not practical) People have rights gov’t can’t take away Taxation takes away property from citizens (ex. Money/goods) Colonists don’t have a voice in Parliament, so England shouldn’t tax colonies (no taxation without representation) There’s no way colonies could ever be represented in Parliament because it is too far away Many colonists fought in the French & Indian War (we’ve done our part) British personnel are causing violence, riots & death (Boston Massacre/Boston Tea Party)
