Seed Propagation Before Propagation Clean-up Snowy beginning

The Jumping Off Point Lisa Appel from the Cranbrook Institute of Science exchanges thoughts with DIT students about seed propagation!

A snapshot of its (this work) relevance

Native seeds selected for propagation Ironweed (Vermonia Missurica) Cup Plant (Silphium perfoliatum)

Native seeds selected for propagation Black chokeberry (Aronia Melanocarpa) Grey Dogwood (Cornus Foemina)

Condition for germination Success!.............Or not Light Moisture Temperature Oxygen Condition for germination Germination rate is the % that sprout to seeds propagated. Example: 1 out of 75 = 1.33% Rates affected by…. Seed viability. Temperature. Moisture. Type of plant. Quality of seed. 1 sprout that persevered but was lost in next attempt at propagation. Container choice

Three weeks with unexpected results No germination occurred in three weeks We decided to propagate Zinnia. Questions associated with water applicator Lisa provided the seeds and a Cody Green Comet began propagating.

Three Weeks into the alternate seed propagation Silphium Iron weed Tho weeks
