Called Out To Love Together February 14, 2016 Pastor David Kobelin
Listening to Jesus How have you been listening? What has He been saying? What have you been doing?
Introduction
Called Out To Love Together Love is a noun. It is a thing that can be described and defined. However, love becomes love when you add action to the noun and it becomes a verb.
Love Defined – Kind Of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, 13 New International Version (NIV) 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self- seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version (NIV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Love Expressed John 15:9-13 New International Version (NIV) 9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 3:16 New International Version (NIV) 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
‘Love delights in giving, perfect love in giving all!’ Matthew 5:43-48 New International Version (NIV) 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
‘CALLED OUT TO LOVE TOGETHER’ ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT? Loving your enemies does not mean you have to agree with or accept what they do. You can still love all of mankind and be outspoken for what you believe. Bethany Jane Andrews Hoey WHAT ASPECT OF BEING ‘CALLED OUT TO LOVE TOGETHER’ ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT?
