FALCON 2016 Executive Director’s Report FALCON Water Working Group Formed to plan for a collaborative initiative around water education, research and outreach. Conducted a survey in early 2016 of the 1994 interests related to water. 71 valid responses showed a high level of interest in water quality and the sustainability of water resources. Extension-led effort shows most promise and easiest start- up. A resource toolkit for extension work may include: needs assessments of tribal community priorities, then the development of curricula (fact sheets, lesson plans, testing/monitoring protocols, etc.), and then the sharing of resources and expertise among the 1994s.

FALCON 2016 Executive Director’s Report Leadership Development for the 21st Century (LEAD21) Premiere leadership development program for the land- grant system. Fantastic opportunity to learn about self, teams, and the land-grant system. 10-month program; 3 in-person sessions (June, Oct., Feb.) Last year, we announced a FALCON-sponsored 50% tuition scholarship (worth about $5,000) for one 1994 applicant to participate in LEAD21 each year. LEAD21 will match, so tuition is essentially free. You pay for travel (about $5,000)
