Career Ready and Programme updates Programme team 12.05pm – 1pm

Programme updates Internship feedback Survey strategy Stakeholder communications plan QA format – tool for review Wall planner Coordinator Toolkit LAB Toolkit Masterclass resource updates SfCS excel tracker Resource hub on Career Ready platform

Resource Hub We have launched new functions for coordinator dashboards this year: A resource hub with materials for members of the Career Ready network only Access to download your wallplanner directly from the homepage The dashboard resource hub allows you to access all materials to run your programme in one place, without having to remember hidden links. It is only accessible by people in our network (coordinators, students and mentors) to avoid our materials being used for free.

Resource Hub 1 3 The dashboard resource hub is structured in the same way as the one on our public website. You can search by: keyword tag (subject) – please note, there are resources on the dashboard for centres in Scotland that will be different from those for centres in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. You may find it useful to tick the ‘England Wales NI’ tag to ensure you see relevant resources role – coordinators can see resources for students and volunteers as well as their own Links to specific resources will still be shared through the wallplanner and weekly bulletin but if you are logged into the dashboard you will not need to enter your email address to download the file(s). 2

Internships and work placements Most impact comes from placements that are at least two weeks It is recognised that some employers schemes are one week and these still hold significant value and robustness Work experience that is part of the student’s main qualification aim can be used towards the hours Part time work can be used but must include alternative opportunities for skill development / tasks / meeting new people Where national four week placements are available a student must be available for the entire period Dates for national placements: 17 July 2017 commence for four or six weeks Deadline for application deadline: 31 March 2017 Section 7.11 in the SLA provides full details, along with additional information in the Coordinator Toolkit

Typical types of placements Type – example A paid internship, lasting up to four weeks.    A one day a week placement over a significant period of time, i.e. five months = 20 days A placement lasting two weeks, consisting of some shadowing and opportunities to undertake tasks or short projects, with guidance.     A shadowing placement lasting a shorter period of time, i.e. one week.  A placement that is associated with a student’s programme of study A student’s part time job More information on the purpose and explanation of each of these can be found in the Coordinator Toolkit and SLA
