ARE YOU SAFE ON THE INTERNET?

Inappropriate Content Computer Use Safety Six Areas Identity Safety Cyber Predators Inappropriate Content Cyber-bullying Piracy & Plagiarism Social Networks

ONE STRANGER DANGER! You wouldn’t tell a stranger your name, where you live, or your phone number, so don’t put that on the computer either! If you haven’t met that person on the computer in real life, think of them as a stranger!

TWO MEAN OR BAD PEOPLE Tell a parent or teacher if someone says or does something that makes you feel bad or uncomfortable. A Predator is someone (usually a Bad Grown Up) who is sneaky and will try to trick you into giving out information. They might pretend to be a kid and want to play on-line games with you. So, remember your stranger danger rules!.

THREE SCARY, ICKY, GROSS or Inappropriate STUFF If you see scary or icky things on your computer screen, turn it off or click on the back button. Then tell your parent or teacher.

FOUR 1. DON’T BE A BULLY! (DON’T BE MEAN on the computer). 2. DON’T LET PEOPLE BE MEAN TO YOU either! 3. Repeating Mean things is ALSO being Mean! Tell your parent or teacher if someone is being mean, and don’t “talk” to them anymore.

FIVE DON’T USE PICTURES AND MUSIC from the computer without asking the owner. But, you can use pictures for school reports without asking.

SIX REMEMBER, STRANGER DANGER! Don’t give out your phone number, address, and information like that. Don’t say mean things. You can’t take it back! Other people might share the things you said. Tell a parent or teacher if there are mean or inappropriate things being said.

BE SMART! THINK TWICE! BE SAFE WHEN YOU USE THE COMPUTER!
