Completing Applications Look at eligibility, requirements, special considerations, to see if the scholarship fits you. Read the instructions carefully. Make sure you understand what the scholarship is asking for. Complete applications online if possible. If completing a paper application, print neatly, use black or dark blue ink. Answer all sections completely. Do not leave anything blank. If the application asks for an official transcript, make sure you request one from the registrar. Do not use a copy. If the application asks for a letter of recommendation, make sure you ask the recommender at least 2 weeks ahead of your deadline. Watch deadlines. Nothing will be accepted after a deadline. If the deadline has a postmark deadline, make sure to make that date. If it doesn’t and you are required to mail it, make sure you mail it in time for the scholarship to arrive by the deadline.

T The Legacy Scholarship for Midland College www.midland.edu/legacy

The Abell-Hanger Foundation, the Helen Greathouse Charitable Trust, the Chaparral Foundation, and the Scharbauer Foundation have partnered together to create the Midland Legacy Scholarship. This scholarship is offered to students who graduate from a Midland County high school who plan to enroll at Midland College. Students must have a final grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 system, and complete 40 hours of documented community service. This service must be completed at an approved agency before the application is considered complete. A list of approved agencies is available on the Midland College website. Students may begin working on hours at the end of the junior year in June. Hours completed before that time will not be considered. The Midland Legacy Scholarship covers tuition and fees up to $1050 per semester for full-time enrollment ($2,100 for a full academic year), and is only applicable for fall and spring semesters. The scholarship does not cover the cost of books. Funding is limited. Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first serve basis. All requirements, guidelines, applications, forms, and approved Volunteer Agency List can be found at www.midland.edu/legacy When there, click on Legacy for Future Scholars. At Legacy for Future Scholars, you will find the following sites: . Requirements & Guidelines . Application . Where to Volunteer (will list about 18 pages of approved agencies) .
