We have been perfectly structured for the results we get

How Well Are We (DE and adult ed.) Restructured to Promote Value?

Value Toward Student Success Driving Objectives Reduce Phases that are proven to not bring value (and increase opportunity costs) Increase Quality / Options to support learning Reduce Debt for services the student did not sign-on for Focus on the outcome not the throughput

Lamar State System and Region 5 ESC “Our collaboration with Region 5 has been one of the greatest blessings Lamar State College Port Arthur has received in my 10 year tenure as Developmental Education Department Chair and Director of the Student Success Center! Not only are the tutors who work with our students knowledgeable of the subject matter, but they are patient with and kind to all our students. The TSI Assessment Test and HSE prep classes have been instrumental in helping our students succeed in passing their tests. And, from a financial point of view, it has allowed me to save money in the budget to be used to buy much needed inventory for the department. In summary, Region 5 has been an invaluable resource to this campus and a partnership which, I hope, will continue to benefit our students for a long time to come.” Sherry Steele Developmental Education Chair Student Success Center Director Since we were unable to have a representative from the college here with us today, we wanted them to share what they thought their WIN was in working with our program. So, this is a quote from Sherry Steel who is the Chair of the developmental Education at LSCPA and also director of the student success center She states: Our collaboration with Region 5 has been one of the greatest blessings Lamar State College Port Arthur has received in my 10 year tenure as Developmental Education Department Chair and Director of the Student Success Center! Not only are the tutors who work with our students knowledgeable of the subject matter, but they are patient with and kind to all our students. They are also willing to take on extra duties by pitching in to log students in, disseminate tests and perform many other duties related to the day to day functioning of the Center. The TSI Assessment Test and HSE prep classes have been instrumental in helping our students succeed in passing their tests.  And, from a financial point of view, it has allowed me to save money in the budget to be used to buy much needed inventory for the department. In summary, Region 5 has been an invaluable resource to this campus and a partnership which, I hope, will continue to benefit our students for a long time to come
