SR1 extension follow up 08-May-17 Marco Ciapetti

Current status – taken decisions Last meeting on 24/04/2017 (Slides) Three barracks to be moved in first half of May 2017 SMB works starting date: after the 20th of May SMB works target ending date: December 2017 - January 2018 End of global work on SR1 extension (Cleanroom ready): July 2018 (tbc) The extended Cleanroom (extension and existing portion) shall have an antistatic floor

Three barracks to be removed 6115 6.5m 3m 6.2m 6578 8m 6312 3m 6.5m 6312 6115 6578 6115 is planned to be displaced behind SR1  Transport will be done after May 15 (due to ongoing test in SR1)  Lukasz 6578 and 6312 will be moved beside bldg. 6119  Transport will be done at the latest on May 12  Marco

Bldg 6115 re-connection Lukasz, Damien and Piotr are working on the re-connection of the CO2 barrack. Didier asked to install a protection wall for the PP2 Pixel rack ( Piotr) and to place the hole for services as far as possible from the rack ( Damien) The hole cannot be opened before the protecting wall is installed  the barrack will be temporarily displaced but a final tuning in the position will be needed once the hole will be opened (time estimation?)

New requirements DOOR: An additional door has been required on the right-hand wall of the extension, to ease the extraction of the ITk assembly. The door shall be 2.8m wide and 3.5m high It should be centered in the short wall It will be used only few times in its lifetime Juha Sakkinen (EN) was contacted for a cost estimation. He suggested a removable wall instead of a double door SMB ( Pierre) is working to: Relocate the emergency door in the main wall Redesign the mechanical structure Prepare a proposal for a removable wall

New requirements RAILS: Two rails are required to drive the coaxial installation of the ITk. The rail should be: 2 different rails, one flat and the other with a V shape ≈36m long and 2m apart Embedded into the floor Shall arrive 7-8m outside the building Roberto Rinaldesi (EN) has been contacted for a cost estimation  20 k€ (tbc) He prepared the final design for the installation based on the profile sent by Eric  Waiting for approval by the User (Eric) Once approved, SMB shall update the design of the concrete slab and propose the additional cost estimation ( Pierre) FLAT V-SHAPE 2m

New requirements ANTI-STATIC FLOOR: The current cleanroom (R-C04-B) floor is a fake floor. It might be already anti-static (tbc) Sylvain Kaufmann (EN) has been contacted to perform a test to understand if it is anti-static and what its electrostatic behavior (resistance to ground) is.  still waiting for a reply The results will be sent to Eric and Kendall for an approval If it is not approved, a cost estimate is needed ( Marco) A final decision of ESD flooring in the extension is not yet taken. Eric suggested two firms: Forbo (better)  Colorex SD or Colorex EC. Both are compliant with the personnel grounding requirements specified in the IEC 61340-5-1 and ANSI/ESD S20.20 standards for ESD Protected Areas (EPA): - System resistance Person / Footwear / Flooring System: n.a. for Colorex SD and < 3.5 107 Ω for Colorex EC - Resistance to ground: 106 ≤ R ≤ 108 Ω for Colorex SD and 5 104 ≤ R ≤ 106 Ω for Colorex EC Armstrong (losses conductivity over time)  Excelon SDT. Compliant with ANSI / ESD STM 97.1: - System resistance Person / Footwear / Flooring System: < 2.26 107 Ω - Resistance to ground: SMB ( Pierre) is working on a proposal together with the consultant Once ready, the proposal will be sent to Eric and Kendall for an approval

Things to be decided Installing a new ceiling (≈1m lower wrt the current one) is under discussion: Quick analysis: Pros: reducing air leakage, reducing fresh air volume needed, routing part of the services (?), etc. Cons: cost of the ceiling (rough estimation asked to external firms. Waiting for a reply) + cost of the new lighting (Thierry is working on a cost estimate and it should be ready before May 22) In the radiation lab the idea of lowering the ceiling has been discarded due to the several delicate tests going on (performing heavy works in the room is too risky) Number and position of Ethernet inputs / wireless: Number of wireless access points to be added in the extension: 2 Ethernet points: 25 (tbc) Total expected power consumption (Pixel/Strip integration, testing, standard activities): (tbc)

Things to be decided Amount of cables and services needed by the user (total cross section, distribution, feasibility of reusing part of the existing cables, etc.)  tbc Path for cables and services (below fake floor and along pillars or cable trays etc.)  tbc Length, frequency and schedule of power outage  tbc A schedule for the users’ activities has been sent by Susanne Kuehn and Jens Dopke on 24/04/2017 (see next two slides)  tbd

Schedule for ITk Pixel tests in SR1 April-August 2017: test of prototype with one full cooling line ~375 W in SR1 (August 2017) September 2017: commissioning of system setup in SR1 (power needed, few days of outage can be discussed, CO2 partially needed for commissioning) October-November 2017: assembly of prototype in SR1 (power and CO2 needed, days of outage can be discussed) November 2017-November 2018: systematic evaluation of demonstrator in SR1, dedicated test bench for comparison of DAQ, readouts, powering, cooling (power and CO2 needed)  No possibility of power outage for 1 full year?!?  PROBLEM!

Schedule for ITk Strips tests in SR1 April-September 2017: Testing of pre and post irradiated modules in SR1 + Testing cold (-35°C) with chiller September-December 2017: assembly of parts for system test setup for a Strip Stave in SR1 January-November 2018: Commissioning of system tests of a stave (CO2 cooling, interlock, DCS, DAQ, cabling) What about power outage?!?  Susanne and Jens

BACK UP SLIDES

Taken decisions The clean room will be ISO 8 according to ISO 14644-1 All cable trays shall be covered Number and position and type of sockets and switches: power socket distribution at every pillars + one every 3-4 meter against the wall 4-6 sockets (16 A) per distribution terminal with a local differential switch for the group 3 phase sockets with 380V with 32 A max power at each power distribution terminal Lighting will provide the same illumination of the actual clean room (≈400 lux) Type of lights (LED, fluorescent, etc.) to be studied

Taken decisions EN-CV will switch off the air conditioning and ventilation for at least 6 months (schedule should meet SMB’s one) EN-EL will switch off the electricity for small periods of time (schedule should meet global schedule and users’ schedule) Overpressure targets: Overpressure of extended clean room (R-C04-B) is ≥15 Pa Overpressure of radiation lab (R-C14) is ≥15 Pa No overpressure in the test zone (R-C04-A), changing room (R-202), other areas Overpressures of R-C04-B and R-C14 can be manually regulated in order to create slight overpressure of the clean room over the radiation lab if needed

Taken decisions The proposal of extending the changing room R-202 by ≈1m has been accepted. The drawings have been modified To be removed ≈1 m

Schedule preliminary DRAFT From TC (TBC): Jun 2017: SMB should start civil engineering works Ago 2017: EN-EL should remove all cables close to 1m from the SR1 roof (if any) Sep 2017: EN-EL and IT-CS should remove the cables running on the wall to be dismounted (in between the wall and the building wall) Oct 2017: SMB should install the temporary partition wall (1m from existing wall) Nov 2017: CV will stop the ventilation for 6 months (tbc) Dec 2017: target for ending civil engineering works (end of the month) Jan 2018: TC should start installing the internal clean room extension and EN-CV should start working on the HVAC system Mar 2018: target for ending clean room extension installation walls and ceiling Apr 2018: EN-EL, IT-CS should start working Jul 2018: target for commissioning the SR1 clean room extension
