School, Student, and Family Compact Families will commit to: Ensuring students are to school on time Speaking to students about class and checking in on work Being actively involved in school activities Keeping information such as address, etc. up to date Supporting the Uniform Standard of Dress Staff will commit to: Communicating regularly with students and families Providing a warm, safe, and welcoming environment Encouraging and motivating students Students will commit to: Coming to class every day prepared Respecting staff and other students by following school rules Being accountable for own actions

Student Rights and Responsibilities Students have rights as granted to them through the Ownership in Education. Student Responsibilities Students must not hamper other students from pursuing education. Students must express opinions in a respectful manner. Each student must participate positively in learning situations. Each student is responsible for contacting the teacher upon returning to school and setting a reasonable date to make up missed work.

Definitions Dismissal Pending Parent Conference (DPPC)-The parent/guardian shall be notified of the dismissal. If a parent has not scheduled a conference within one day of the dismissal, suspensions procedures will be iniatated. Repeated Violations-Violations of the same nature that keep occurring can lead to referral to the Board of Education for Expulsion. Expulsion-Disciplinary action that leads to referral to the Board of Education in which the board may resolute a student to be: separated from school and related activities for a period of more than ten days. separated from school and related activities for the balance of the current semester, the balance of the current school year, or up to two calendar years.

Infractions and Guidelines Examples of disciplinary infractions can be found on pages 10-15. These are not the only possible acts for which discipline is warranted. Discipline guidelines may be found on pages 17-31. Students need to be familiar with the guidelines/consequences. Suspensions Upon any suspension out of school, a student will have a re-entry conference with their assistant principal/dean. Students suspended have a right to all work missed while suspended. All work should be requested by the student from their house office. All work must be completed in a timely fashion upon return. The student will have the amount of days out to complete the work upon return.

Extra-Curricular (Page 39-42) Participating in extra-curricular activities is a privilege. Any infractions occurring during participation in or spectating of extra-curricular events is disciplined at the discretion of the school.

Homecoming/Prom Homecoming & Prom are considered extra-curricular activities and are a privilege to attend. In order to attend either Homecoming or Prom, a student must meet the following requirements during the semester of the event:: No more than three suspension days No more than two unexcused absences All fees paid Any questions, please see an assistant principal

Driver’s Education (page 42) A student must have earned at least eight credits to be eligible. Any first year student with three suspensions or one expulsion within a school year, shall be prohibited from taking behind the wheel until their third year. Any second year student with two suspensions or one expulsion within a school year, shall be prohibited from taking behind the wheel until their third year. Any third year student with two suspensions or one expulsion within a school year, shall be prohibited from taking behind the wheel until the second semester of their fourth year. Any fourth year student with two suspensions or one expulsion within a school year, shall be prohibited from taking behind the wheel until the second semester of their fourth year. Any student incurring a suspension outlined in the above scenario shall be dropped and must reschedule behind the wheel in accordance with the above timeline.
