Hilo Inter STEAM Tradeshow Thursday & Friday, December 15 & 16, 2016 IDEA behind this: Students become an “Expert” in one concept or skill set, and then teach it. Student led hands-on short activity workshops for classmates, visiting Elementary students, and Community Visitors 6-period days – HIS teachers, have your students run a workshop and they all get to participate in events! We WANT upper Elementary Students to visit and participate Let me know if interested so we can plan logistics Alternative to Science Fair

Science Olympiad Standards Aligned to the National Education Science Standards STEM activities are easily aligned or justified with CTE Standards, HCPS III Science Standards, Common Core Math and ELA Standards, New Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and so on Event areas can be studied in an Interdisciplinary manner Hands On, Project and Inquiry Based STEM Program

Why Science Olympiad Students enjoy and have FUN learning and exploring STEM disciplines Teacher / Advisor have FUN! Actual practicing of soft career readiness: cooperation, communication, product preparation & completion with time constraints and criteria Application of Skills learned in ALL classes – gives students a reason to want to learn/study Hands-On and Interactive Inspire your students to want to learn

Interested In Participating? Want to participate – but not sure your Admin will support? Let me know, my principal will talk to your Admin Hilo Inter will SPONSOR up to 2 Hilo Complex Teams Students from multiple schools could participate You are more than welcomed to come to D102 to work with my students. Current times I am available in D102 Shop: Mondays 2:15 – 4:45PM Fridays 2:15 – 4:00PM Will Schedule Saturdays or Sundays – Flexible with Notice Closer to Regional Competition Day – more regularly!

Learn Like Your Students Look Over the Rules, Work as a team or individual Supplies on table, including graph paper and pencils 1. Towers Construct out of Pasta (Elementary SO) Construct out of Balsa Wood 2. Mousetrap Vehicle 3. Bottle Rocket (not enough carbonated bottles, so use any bottle available) HAVE FUN!!!!
