Year 9 Subject Selection MultiMedia – Make a webpage that works Year 9 students had input into the design of the Parish website
Course Description This unit looks at the business requirements for a website, the options available and continues the process through to the design and completion of a working website. Skills developed include image editing, project planning, understanding client needs and the design process.
About the course Work and assessment tasks What makes a good website? Comparison of websites – identifying main features of the site, design skills needed. First website design – own choice of site, created online through Weebly or similar. Discussion and show and tell on effectiveness of student sites. Designing a site for East Gippsland (any choice of content) using online professional level software. Designing a site for a client – interaction with external client (if possible) and development of a fully live site Additional skills developed include: Search engine optimisation, image editing, knowledge of online business.
Subject pathway…. This course develops skills that flow into: Year 10 Media VCE Media VCE Computing However, the improved skills in digital, visual, technology and information literacy acquired in the course have many flow-on benefits that are of value in all subject areas.
Extra activities/costs? There are no additional costs for this unit. All web design software required is available online at no cost. Image editing software is already installed on the student laptops.
