The lamp shines inside this reflector. Parabolic Reflector-A reflective surface which is shaped like a saucer. The lamp sits in front of this reflector. Fresnel-A lighting instrument that uses a Fresnel lens. Scoop-A large general lighting instrument. Property of CTE Joint Venture 9/14/15 7

Lighting Terminology Striplight-A strip of parabolic reflectors used to light cycloramas or backdrops. Follow Spot-A high-powered lighting instrument that is mounted on a pivot to follow an actor on stage. A follow spot may have levers to change colors and iris size. GOBO-GoesBeforeOptics, a glass or metal disc that sits in the instrument before the lenses that shapes the light. GOBO holder/slot-A metal holder that holds the GOBO which slides into the instrument in the GOBO slot. Property of CTE Joint Venture 9/14/15 8

Lighting Terminology Barn Door-A metal accessory with moveable flaps to control the beam of light. Typically used on Fresnels. Top Hat (snoot)-a metal accessory with a cylindrical shape to control the beam of light. Typically used on Fresnels.
