Goal: Accessible Member Self Service Getting Navy League back on task! (not talking I.T.) It’s all about self help and amplified capability Share your ideas – we don’t always know what you need to talk to prospects or promote our mission, and need your feedback to be successful If you can’t find what you need quickly we will adjust menus based on quarterly usage
Accomplishments to date Membership (RE) and Finance (FE) went live Sep 2016 20+ years of data cleaned up – but not all fields Remaining major tasks: address standardization and payment to member type match corrections Payment data consistency improved by processes and correct fund routing which also helps reporting Verified accurate council counts (226) and organizational council record data (checked against three years of Annual Report data 2014-2016) Verified corporate and community affiliate records and members Clarification of internal processes for stipends and rebate reporting Planned council statements include liability insurance, life member escrow payout, and membership calculations explaining rebate amount New National communications tool is online (replaces constant contact, mailing lists dynamically linked to membership data) Online community replace by new mobile friendly member portal
Where we stand today - DEMO The online community functions have been completely replaced Rosters online for current council officers
Proper staffing! NLUS never had a formal IT department and departments independently managed contractors and resources. This is an expensive way to do modern business and communications Reorganized, our new Expanded team - all with previous blackbaud expertise Alex Mulvey - CIO Mike Brown - DBA/Super Analyst Finance - Reginald Thorton Membership - Amanda Murray Needs: Professional web administrator and social media (vs Patrick Pang) Currently leveraging old PC contractor CWPS to maintain email, servers etc Caveat – CWPS does not handle application support
The power of integration! Our finance, membership and communications are now all integrated Data validation and process controls and metrics enable accuracy and consistency vs previous departmental “he said she said” data disputes. We can all see the same thing One system of record - one place = one list = one bullhorn
What this means for you Central go-to place for Navy League resources and communications Member data is now truly self service – National can reach out and ask for annual reviews Self service communications access and council data management Common integrated Navy League News feeds - rss enabled for council sites Cost efficiencies - all this for only just over $70k a year Enables more focus on growth and the REAL NLUS mission – education!
Leveraging the investment - the next steps Single integrated communications – and a central calendar and Navy League Newsfeed More useful visuals - ie Community affiliate package, Life member certificate/package Automated push reporting to council officers of member changes Expanded management capability for committees, departments and councils Planned – Mass roster edit and administration tool Council email to rosters with tracking Council level events and event payment processing with national tool Online ordering of materials
Questions and suggestions for phase TWO Please share any ideas you have on our portal feedback page or directly. We will prioritize and implement anything that helps the majority of our members. We are here for you – not the other way around.
