Product Photography

Advertising photography For this assignment you will create a photograph that would be used for advertising purposes. First you will research advertising photography on the Internet to generate ideas. You will write a proposal before you begin to shoot. Answer the following questions:

Information to include when photographing your product Who is the client, or company you are representing? What is the product? What is the name of your product (needs to be made up by you) Create an original and catchy slogan ( can NOT be one that is already used) Who is the target audience? Ex. Teenagers, babies, Adults, etc… Where would you expect to see this advertisement? What kind of lighting are you going to use to make this look professional? Side lighting, soft lighting, direct lighting, back lighting? What props do you need to enhance your product?

Composition & Lighting Shoot the product and use of variety of compositions. Think about: lighting, composition, depth of field, product placement. Use Photoshop to tweak and enhance your photograph. Add necessary text and captions. Post your best advertising shot, EDITED, to your blog with the proposal and 3 ads from the Internet which inspire you.. Samples below:

Color Psychology

Some examples of how these colors are used in advertising and branding: Boa Energy Drink is utilizing the color green, which makes this advertisement and can look refreshing and healthy, the yellow demands attention but not so much that it makes the observer feel aggravated or uncomfortable.

Another example. This ad is playing off the black and white emotions; the colors convey mystery and cleanliness. The pop of red is intense and demands attention over the black and white image. By using colors correctly in advertising and branding, a company can create the appropriate emotion to demand action from the reader. Color isn’t the only element to consider when capturing customer attention.

Slogans a short and striking or memorable phrase used in advertising
