Level 3 Beauty Therapy Epilation Lesson 1

What is electrolysis? 1st used in 1875 it is a method of permanent hair removal, although permanent it does not mean immediate There are 3 main types, each one having different applications and uses.

Types & benefits Short wave diathermy (thermolysis)– works by heat coagulation cutting off the blood supply to their hair follicle   Galvanic (electrolysis)– superseded by short wave diathermy. Works by chemical reaction within the tissues to destroy the hair. Blend - combination of diathermy (thermolysis) & galvanic (electrolysis). Combining chemical effectiveness of galvanic electrolysis with the fast and effective heat (thermolysis) of diathermy to cause hair destruction

Legislation Local Government Miscellaneous provisions act – registration of salon H&S at Work Act Environmental protection act – disposal of needles PPE – wearing gloves COSHH Can you think of any more?
