History Idea proposed to History TC in early 1999 May 1999 – presented to Institute Development Committee. Asked to refine presentation. August 1999 – presented to IDC again, approved; Board of Directors approved funding for pilot program. January 2000 – first meeting of committee; sites selected November 2000 – first ceremonies May 2002 – Tony Springer appointed as Historic Sites Liaison by AIAA President Kent Kresa
Nominations submitted by anyone, although AIAA members are preferred Process Nominations submitted by anyone, although AIAA members are preferred Committee meets in January to choose up to 5 sites Staff makes logistical arrangements, produces brochure, orders plaque, sends invitations, etc. 47 chosen so far 39 have had ceremonies
