Sovereignty of God II. God’s Influence on Human Will. THE Hardening, Blinding, and Opening the Heart. 1. Lydia—“The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul” (Acts 16:14). 2. The Jews—“Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive” (Matt. 13:14). 3. Pharaoh—“I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go.” (Exod. 4:21).

Lydia—“spoke to the women who met there” (Acts 16:13) and she was judged to be “faithful to the Lord” (16:15).
