Figure 1 Example of a positive sodium-channel blocker challenge (SCBC). The test (ajmaline 1 mg/kg over 10 minutes) was performed in an asymptomatic 18-year-old woman after the identification of asymptomatic Brugada syndrome in her father. Note the S wave in leads DII and DIII on the baseline electrocardiogram (ECG) and the QRS fragmentation in precordial leads. Measurements performed in 3 consecutive beats reveal a significant increased in the PR interval (from 268 to 304 ms), the QRS interval (from 81 to 143 ms), and the QT interval (from 381 to 420 ms) during the test. All ECGs were performed with a speed of 25 mm/s and an amplitude of 10 mm/mV. No complication occurred during the test. Figure 2 Proportion of positive and complicated sodium-channel blocker challenge (SCBC) according to QRS enlargement. Percentage of positive SCBC according to QRS enlargement is represented in blue. Percentage of complicated SCBC according to QRS enlargement is represented in red.
