PAST SIMPLE OR PRESENT PERFECT?

Compare We´ve lived here for five years. Before that, I lived in Olomouc for two years. Look! Your brother has cleaned his shoes! So what? I cleaned my shoes yesterday.

GRAMMAR Present perfect is used for Past simple is used for an activity that is still happening in the present I have lived here for six months = I still live here now. an activity that has stopped They lived here for six months = They don´t live here now.

Grammar Present perfect is used for Past simple is used for an activity that has an effect in the present She´s bought a new dress. = She has a new dress. I´ve done my homework. = It is finished. the time when something happened She bought a new dress yesterday. I did my homework an hour ago.
