The Student Council 2016-2017

What is the Student Council? The Student Council is a group of students from all years who meet once a week during tutor time to discuss opportunities at All Saints’. The main aim for the Student Council is to listen to all students and make positive changes that benefit you. There are 6 groups within the Student Council, each with a different focus: Learning Experience Community and Fundraising Student Health and Wellbeing Catering Catholicity Maun Valley Citizens Please Read Out The Student Council 2016-2017

Our Projects This Year Each group within the Student Council have multiple projects which they aim to work on this year. We are going to ask you as a house which projects you would like the council to focus on We want to make sure we’re doing the best that we can to make changes which YOU want to see After we’ve read out the options, we will ask you to turn your organiser to the letter which corresponds to your favourite option Please Read Out The Student Council 2016-2017

Learning Experience A Improve the school organisers to include more educational information e.g. periodic table and include coloured option cards at the back (the ones that you’re using today) B Provide lockers for Y10 and Y11 to store books, PE kits and other school equipment to ensure you are prepared throughout the week (codes not keys so keys are not lost) C Improve and organise the VLE to ensure every student can access the work they need D Purchase better science equipment (including batteries) so practical lessons can run smoothly and more often Please Read Out The Student Council 2016-2017

Community and Fund Raising Increasing the amount of activities available for students at lunch times (especially during winter) B Allow students to take food out at lunch and break IF LITTER IMPROVES C Improving student messages system so all students see messages and key events are advertised clearly Please Read Out The Student Council 2016-2017

Student Health and Wellbeing Improve the toilet system to reduce vandalism and potential bullying. We want to hold people accountable for the damage they cause. B Focus on making the canteen options healthier and tastier (work with catering group to do this) C Promote physical activities by encouraging students to take part in sports. Catering A Raise the limit on money spent in the canteen as food prices have risen B More food provided for students who enter canteen later C More healthy options in the cold food sections D Seasonal and celebration extras Please Read Out The Student Council 2016-2017

Catholicity A Organising a termly mini tea party in the Chapel B Asking each form to create a decoration for the Chapel C Look at adding more well known hymns to mass to encourage everyone to sing D Give out a questionnaire/quiz about mass with prizes Please Read Out The Student Council 2016-2017

Maun Valley Citizens A Work with other schools to improve work experience across Mansfield B Organise trips as a reward for students so they can gain practical experience C Research businesses in Mansfield, collect the information and present the findings in an assembly D Continue on improving our Y8 careers event that we started this year Please Read Out The Student Council 2016-2017
