FOOD BENEFITS A diet rich in vegetables and fruits can lower blood pressure, reduces risk of heart diseases and stroke, prevents some types of cancer, lowers risk of eye and digestive problems, and has a positive effect upon blood sugar which can help keep appetite in check. Many types of bread contain heart-healthy nuts or seeds, which are high in unsaturated fats, and walnuts and flaxseed even provide omega-3 fatty acids. Breads may contain dried fruit, such as raisins, cherries or cranberries, which are high in potassium and dietary fiber. The dietary fiber in potatoes increases the bulk of the stool, thus, it helps prevent constipation, decreases absorption of dietary cholesterol and thereby, lowers plasma LDL cholesterol. Milk is healthy for Bones,Teeth, blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, Obesity, diabete, Cancer and Hydration. Cheese is healthy for Bones and Osteoporosis. Stick margarine has high levels of trans fats, which increase LDL cholesterol similarly to saturated fats and lowers HDL, or good, cholesterol.
