Filter Media-PVC Definition In line collection point for desired contaminant Purpose Collection of particulate matter Serves as “capture” point of sampling train for later analysis

Filter Media-PVC Total Dust(3 stage cassette) Collects “all” dust present in the sampled air, including respirable particulates Respirable Dust(2 stage cassette, cyclone) Collects only dust particles which are respirable Less than 10um in diameter

Filter Media-PVC Operating parameters Requires high-flow pump(1.5-2.0L/min) 37mm cassette filter holder Respirable 2 stage cassette and Dorr-Oliver cyclone Total Dust 3 stage cassette

Filter Media-PVC Method of Operation Filter pad is gravimetrically analyzed pre and post sampling Initial measurement is subtracted from final measurement, giving total of particulate collected With sampling time and flow rate, analysis of contaminant concentration can be made
